Our Story

TravelWish was inspired by my best friend Jill - my soul sister of 30 years, and the person who taught me that when facing the unthinkable, every moment becomes sacred.

On December 11th, 2024, Jill lost her nearly 4 year fight with pancreatic cancer, leaving behind her devoted husband and two wonderful sons. But in her final years, she also left something else: a blueprint for how to live fully when time becomes your most precious resource.

In January 2021, we sat in shock as the doctor said, “I am 99% certain you have pancreatic cancer.” She received this early diagnosis after an ultrasound - she couldn’t ignore a burning sensation in her stomach area, which she thought might be a hernia. A biopsy confirmed stage 2b. We understood the weight of the diagnosis and the chances of living past 5 years was slim.

From that point forward we made a pact. Between the brutal rounds of chemo, surgeries, and radiation, we wouldn't just survive - we would live fiercely and unapologetically. Together, we checked off nearly every item on her bucket list, which not only offered a distraction, but hope and the will to fight and survive. Ultimately, it was a race against time to create the memories that would sustain her family forever.

What we discovered during those adventures was heartbreaking: while Jill and I had the resources and determination to make these trips happen, countless other families facing similar journeys don't. They're navigating impossible medical schedules, financial strain, and the overwhelming logistics of traveling with someone who is seriously ill. Many simply give up on their dreams of one last family vacation.

Jill always said, "Visit the places, eat the food, and drink the drinks." That's when I realized Jill's legacy should become a lifeline for others.

Don't wait for someday because we truly don’t know when that day is. But when your family's "someday is now", TravelWish will be there to help make it happen.

Every family deserves the gift of time together. Every memory matters. And every journey we make possible honors the spirit of my best friend Jill, who refused to let cancer steal her joy or hope.

Many give up on their dreams of one last family vacation. Let's change that.
